Use the official Wii U installation guide. Inkay is its recommended homebrew route; its alternative SSSL method has different limitations.

Already on vWii?
Mario Kart Wii and other Wii titles use their own revival or mod setup. Installing Inkay on the Wii U side does not patch those Wii games.
Install Inkay in Aroma
- Prepare the consoleComplete the maintained Wii U Hacks Guide first. Keep your original Nintendo Network ID and save backups. Use System Settings to check that the Wii U can connect to your network.
- Use Aroma UpdaterThe official Pretendo guide uses Aroma Updater: check for updates, press R for the additional plugins page, select Inkay, install the selected changes and restart. Review what the updater selects.
- Keep both plugin and moduleFor the pinned manual download, extract the complete Inkay bundle to the SD root. Keep Inkay-pretendo.wps in the Aroma plugins folder and Inkay-pretendo.wms in modules. Do not install only one half.
- Create your PNIDFollow Pretendo’s website or console account flow. Choose a different username from an NNID already linked to this console. Do not delete the NNID to make room for Pretendo.
- Try a supported serviceCheck the official supported-game information, then test one supported game without gameplay-changing mods. Service coverage can differ by game and feature.
Connection, account & recovery checks
Wrong network or no connection
Open the Aroma plugin menu with L + D-pad Down + Minus. Check Inkay’s Connect to Pretendo Network setting, restart into Aroma, then recheck the official service status. Retain the full WPS/WMS pair.
Account and save data
Your PNID is separate from your NNID. Use the official account guidance and back up saves before any account/save transfer. Keep passwords and console-specific dumps private.
Return to the original network
Use Inkay’s connection toggle to disable Pretendo redirection. This does not restore Nintendo services that have closed. Preserve the existing account and saves rather than deleting them.
