Nintendo Emulators for PC

Dolphin, Cemu, Azahar, DS and retro Nintendo emulators, with host OS icons, setup notes and the requested Eden NS2 Switch 2 source-build project.

OS icons show the documented route. Native packages, experimental packages, source builds, legacy packages, Wine and RetroArch cores have separate labels. Open a card’s host notes for architecture and OS requirements.

Source only · no packaged release on this exact repository at review.

Setup, requirements & compatibility
Requirements
No packaged release exists on this exact repository’s releases page at the check date. The README documents Windows MSYS2 MINGW64 builds. Its Linux instructions are explicitly untested; no macOS build or support was verified.
Set up
Use the exact repository’s README and dependency documentation if you intend to build it. The documented output is build/bin/eden.exe with the required MinGW/Qt runtime files. Supply your own extracted game dump, keys and firmware. The README recommends Vulkan, multi-core CPU and the 12 GB emulated-memory-layout setting; that setting is not a measurement of host RAM requirements.
Compatibility
Upstream lists selected Switch 2 games as playable or booting, with slowdown and graphics caveats. These are author-reported results, not tests performed by this site. Read the exact title, update and GPU notes in the repository before assuming compatibility.

Setup, requirements & compatibility
Requirements
A compatible graphics driver and your own game dumps. The official Windows page requires the 64-bit Visual C++ v14 redistributable. Some Wii features need additional data from your own console.
Set up
Choose the latest release rather than a development snapshot when you want that release channel. Extract or install the complete package, add a game directory, configure emulated GameCube/Wii controls and test with default settings.
Compatibility
Use Dolphin’s per-game wiki/compatibility reports. Higher resolution and enhancements can expose issues that are absent at default settings.
Host notes
  • Windows: x64 or ARM64; VC++ runtime required
  • macOS: ARM/Intel Universal
  • Linux: Official Flatpak builds

Setup, requirements & compatibility
Requirements
A 64-bit host, supported graphics driver and your own Wii U game dumps. The macOS README warns about stability and performance, including MoltenVK and Rosetta use on ARM Macs.
Set up
Extract the complete OS package, choose storage for Cemu’s user data, add your game directory and configure a controller profile. Follow the official dumping guide for updates, DLC and online-account files when needed.
Compatibility
The macOS icon denotes an available experimental build, not equal compatibility or performance with Windows/Linux.
Host notes

Setup, requirements & compatibility
Requirements
The documented desktop baseline includes Windows 10 64-bit, macOS 13.4 or modern 64-bit Linux, SSE4.2 on x86-64 and OpenGL 4.3 or Vulkan 1.1. Provide your own game/system data as required by its setup guide.
Set up
Choose a standalone desktop package, not a libretro core or Android build. Follow Azahar’s system/game-dumping instructions, configure controls and add your dumped content. Linux users can use the recommended Flatpak route.
Compatibility
Use Azahar’s own compatibility reports. Old Citra results and settings do not automatically apply to current Azahar builds.
Host notes
  • Windows: x64; current README recommends MXE when unsure
  • macOS: Universal, Apple Silicon or Intel; macOS 13.4+
  • Linux: Flatpak recommended; AppImage available

Setup, requirements & compatibility
Requirements
Choose the documented build for your host. The selected release includes source for Linux rather than a Linux installer; distribution packages can have their own version and maintenance policies.
Set up
Install or extract the host build, configure controls and open your own DS game dump. Keep battery saves separate from save states when moving between versions or emulator frontends.
Compatibility
Release 0.9.13 is a published version, not a guarantee of a current binary for every Linux distribution.

Requirements
The project currently supports Windows only. GPU requirements depend on the selected video plugin; check the current requirements rather than applying another emulator’s settings.
Set up
Use the complete public package from the official Windows downloads page, configure the graphics/input plugins and open your own supported ROM dump. Development builds are a separate channel.
Compatibility
Planned future platforms do not count as current Linux or macOS support.

Setup, requirements & compatibility
Requirements
Use a complete bundle or a frontend that supplies the matching core and plugins. A core-only source archive is not a ready desktop application.
Set up
Extract the bundle for Windows, Linux or macOS and follow its included README. Configure the input and video plugins, or use a compatible frontend. Keep the plugin versions paired with the core. The official 2.6.0 bundle includes the ui-console command-line frontend, not a graphical launcher.
Compatibility
Architecture and graphics-plugin selection affect compatibility. The macOS bundle name does not imply a native build for every Apple Silicon configuration.

Set up your emulator

  1. Choose the exact host packageMatch Windows, macOS or Linux, CPU architecture and the app’s minimum OS. Experimental and source-build labels describe different routes.
  2. Keep the whole package togetherExtract ZIP/7z packages into their own folder. Follow the project’s runtime, driver and installation instructions. A console homebrew package cannot run as a desktop app.
  3. Configure required console filesSome emulators need your own BIOS, firmware, keys or system modules. Open the card’s requirements and official guide for exact formats and locations.
  4. Configure controls and savesMap a controller, choose a writable save location and test one game. Keep saves backed up before changing versions or switching forks.
  5. Use the compatibility trackerResults depend on the exact game update, emulator build and hardware. Source-only research entries are not a promise that a game will run.
