Version & compatibility

Pinned release 1.12.1 includes hbl 2.4.5 and hbmenu 3.6.1. Its notes cover firmware 23.0.0 changes and require updating fusee.bin with this release. Follow the model-specific guide for initial access; these files do not unlock a stock Switch by themselves.

Set up Atmosphère

  1. Check your boot methodIdentify your Switch hardware, installed system version and whether your existing setup boots through Fusée or a Hekate entry. Follow Nintendo Homebrew’s model-specific guide before an initial installation.
  2. Back up the working cardPower off before removing the microSD. Copy its configuration and personal files to a separate backup. Keep existing emuMMC data and boot entries intact.
  3. Copy the SD bundleExtract the complete release ZIP to the microSD root, preserving its folders. For an update, merge the supplied files after backing up your configuration. The archive includes atmosphere/package3 and hbmenu.nro; source-code archives are not needed.
  4. Update the matching boot payloadFor Fusée booting, use the fusee.bin from this same release. If your established Hekate entry chainloads it, update that entry’s existing payload file location. If it boots package3 directly, follow the matching Hekate guide and retain the configured path.
  5. Boot and open homebrewUse your supported boot method. On a working Atmosphère setup, hold R while starting an installed game and continue holding it until hbmenu opens. Choose a compatible app. Check your resulting system/CFW version before adding further changes.

If it does not start

Check that the SD bundle, Fusée payload or Hekate boot entry all belong to a compatible setup. A system update can also require updates to third-party sysmodules and themes. Restore your backed-up configuration if an update breaks a previously working setup, then follow the linked project documentation.

Sources & verification

Console files are preserved locally with source URLs, versions, sizes and SHA-256 checksums. ZIP layouts and RetroArch’s 7z integrity and Switch NRO header were inspected. No console payload or application was executed, and physical-console installation has not been tested. The banner belongs to the Atmosphère project; its graphical resources are credited to jaames.
