Version & compatibility

This is the official 1.22.2 Nintendo Switch libnx stable bundle. Libretro’s Switch guide specifies Atmosphère and a FAT32 microSD card. It does not publish a universal tested firmware or game-compatibility range for this bundle.

Set up RetroArch

  1. Prepare working Switch homebrewUse Atmosphère and a FAT32 microSD card as documented by Libretro. Keep enough free space for the expanded bundle, your own content and saves.
  2. Extract the complete stable bundleOpen RetroArch.7z on your computer and copy its supplied folders to the card root. Keep switch/retroarch_switch.nro and retroarch/ together; a single NRO is not the complete setup. Back up saves and configuration before an update.
  3. Launch with title takeoverHold R while opening an installed game and keep holding it until hbmenu appears. Open RetroArch there. This provides the full application launch route preferred by Libretro; Album applet mode can impose memory limits.
  4. Choose a compatible coreUse Load Core, then Load Content for your own supported game dump. Check the individual core documentation for required BIOS files and content formats. Games and copyrighted BIOS files are not included.
  5. Keep saves and settings backed upConfigure controls and directories for your setup. Exit cleanly after saving. Back up your configured save, state and configuration folders before replacing an installed bundle. Save states can depend on the core version.

microSD layout

microSD root/
├── switch/retroarch_switch.nro
└── retroarch/
    ├── cores/ [Switch core NROs]
└── [assets, configuration and remaining supplied folders]

Keep your game dumps and configured save/BIOS directories separate.

If it does not start

Confirm you launched through title takeover, retained the full bundle and selected a supported core. Check that the content and required BIOS match that core. Restore your backed-up configuration if an update breaks a previously working setup, then follow the linked project documentation.

Sources & verification

Console files are preserved locally with source URLs, versions, sizes and SHA-256 checksums. ZIP layouts and RetroArch’s 7z integrity and Switch NRO header were inspected. No console payload or application was executed, and physical-console installation has not been tested. The project icon is copied unchanged from the official Switch frontend’s embedded image.
